| About Granada |
The city of Granada is in the Andalucia region of southern Spain. |
 |
Being close to the border between Europe and Africa, Granada has experienced diverse cultural influences over the centuries. This is reflected in tourist attractions that include the Alhambra (an Arab medieval citadel), the Generalife (place of recreation for the Granadan Muslim kings), the Cathedral, the Realejo (former Jewish quarter), Albayzin (old Moorish quarter), and Sacromonte (old neighbourhood of the Gypsies). These places are all indicated on the Google_Map on this website.
We hope that Granada's cultural diversity and close proximity to North Africa will help to attract more conference participants from Africa and the Middle East. |

| About the Granada Conference |
The Joint Conference of ESBB & the Spanish National Biobank Network (Red Nacional de Biobancos), was held in the Granada Conference and Exhibition Centre from the 7th - 9th November 2012.
The local host and co-organiser for the conference was the Andalusian Public Health System Biobank (Biobanco del Sistema Sanitario Público de Andalucía).
The conference theme was: "Biobanks - Advancing Science and Serving Society in the 21st Century". The conference programme built on the success of our two recent conferences in Tarragona (Oct, 2011) and Marseille (Nov, 2011).
